The first thing we knew about this place was that a garage door wasn't going to cut it for the grand entrance. Barn doors were the obvious choice, but if you browse Pinterest for even thirty seconds (hello my inspiration gold mine), the options are pretty endless.
We went through a lot of phases of deciding exactly how the entryway was going to look. The type of barn door, doors, windows, the steel on the outside and the broken concrete in the front were all points of decision. We loved the idea of having a set of large front doors and only keeping the barn door as an aesthetic, but for wedding/event photo reasons we opted out of the double set of doors.
There was a lot of back and forth about what we were going to do with the existing steel siding. I wanted to keep it, Ben wanted to paint it and my dad was on board for taking it off and never seeing it again. After a lot of brainstorming and rejection, he came up with idea of using 12-inch T1-11 to match the existing T1-11 where the horse and carriage were on the front. We loved idea, especially the fact that we could stain it any color that we wanted.
For now, our barn is looking like a patchwork quilt. Ben is working on painting the rest of the T1-11 we were able to put on this weekend, so it will only be two-tone instead of three. My dad will be back next weekend, so hopefully we have another progress photo soon!
